John Tortorella gets thrown under the bus just days after being hired for a new coaching job
Former Philadelphia Flyers head coach John Tortorella is heading to the Olympics in Milano-Cortina for Team USA in 2026, but the controversial coach has already been a victim of betrayal by his former players.
John Tortorella has escaped Philadelphia, and long ago concluded
he didn't want to be a part of the team's rebuild. The former Flyers head coach has found a new coaching job under Mike Sullivan, as he's
heading to the Olympics in 2026.
Ahead of that, his former Flyers players are quick to throw Tortorella under the bus, as Sean Courturier
took a shot at the former Stanley Cup winner.
Courturier has established a great relationship with new Coach Rick Tocchet, and would take a shot at his former bench boss.
«Already had some really good conversations with him, probably more over the last three months (with Tocchet) than over two years with Torts. It's fun to just go back & forth and get to know each other.»
John Tortorella's Future In the NHL: Gone Forever?
With Courturier's latest statement and his shouting matches with
Matvei Michkov, you really have to wonder if he has reached the end of the road in the NHL.
This is a low blow from one of his former players, who has painted him in a bad light ahead of Team USA's upcoming battle in Italy for the 2026 Olympics.
As NHL training camps begin, and no solid job offer from any of the 32 teams in the league, you have to wonder if he'll have to explore other avenues for his passion for
coaching in the NHL.
There was speculation that he'd join the Rangers as an assistant coach behind Sullivan, but that rumor didn't turn out to be true.
For now, he has his sights set on a gold medal, with John Hynes, David Quinn, and Mike Sullivan leading the way.
