Anton Khudobin has announced his retirement from hockey at the age of 39.

The goaltender that Detroit never seemed to be able to beat, winning 6 of his 8 games against the Red Wings, has hung up his skates for good.
He led the Dallas Stars to the Stanley Cup Finals during the 2020 NHL season.
Goaltender Anton Khudobin has confirmed that his career is over at the age of 39, adding in an interview from Winners Hockey Agency that, «I have plans - to work in hockey, in management.«

Khudobin recorded 128 wins, a 91.6 SV%, and 12 shutouts in 287 games in the NHL for the Minnesota Wild, Boston Bruins, Carolina Hurricanes, Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars, and Chicago Blackhawks, from 2009-2023. He got to lift the Stanley Cup with Boston in 2011 and led the NHL in SV% during the 2019-20 season.

The Ust-Kamenogorsk native also played professionally for Metallurg Magnitogorsk (RSL), Houston Aeros (AHL), Texas Wildcatters (ECHL), Florida Everblades (ECHL), Providence Bruins (AHL), Atlant Mytishchi (KHL), Charlotte Checkers (AHL), San Diego Gulls (AHL), Texas Stars (AHL), Sokol Krasnoyarsk (VHL), and Sibir Novosibirsk (KHL). He won a Russian title with Metallurg in 2007.
The longtime netminder didn't jus excel in the NHL, but also during international play while representing his country.

Khudobin's international play will always be remembered

"Internationally, Khudobin helped Russia win gold (2014) and silver (2015) medals at the Men's World Championship, playing 1 game across both events. He also won a gold medal with Russia U18 at the 2004 U18 World Championship and then earned silver medals with Russia U20 at the World Junior Championship in 2005 and 2006."

Despite his dominant performances each time when facing the Detroit Red Wings, we wish him the best in his endeavors moving forward within the game of hockey!
