The Detroit Red Wings announce the firing of 2 members from the organization
GM Steve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings announced a major promotion today, as Jeff Weintraub has been given the position of video coordinator before the start of the 2025-26 NHL season.
According to a report from Around The Horn Hockey today, the Detroit
Red Wings have hired Jeff Weintraub as the newest video coordinator for the team.
Weintraub has been hired in place of the Red Wings parting ways with former Video Coordinator, L.J. Scarpace.
Weintraub began his career with the Detroit Red Wings during the 2017-2018 season as an assistant video coach, a position from which he was promoted from nearly several years later.
He began his career as an assistant coach with the Michigan Wolverines (2014-15), and would join the USHL's Green Bay Gamblers the following season as a video coach.
He'd hold the position for two years before making the jump into the NHL as his aspirations continue, while his stock in the Red Wings front office continues to rise.
In a better description of Weintraub's duties before he took over L.J. Scarpace's role, here's an idea:
In his role, Weintraub works closely with LJ Scarpace, the Red Wings' video coach whom he also worked alongside at the University of Michigan, and is responsible for editing game film used by the coaching staff, recording practices and organizing practice plans. He also logs clips during games and operates the team's video review system.
The former Ann Arbor, MI-born video coach will stay in the Red Wings organization after the turnover from Derek Lalonde's regime seems to be coming to a halt, slowly but surely.
