Steve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings could have a dark horse in the lineup, as Jonatan Berggren looks to rejuvenate his game and aim for a spot in the top-six, under the leadership of Todd McLellan.

The Detroit Red Wings desperately need help with secondary scoring, and Jonatan Berggren could be a solution.
While fans may think Elmer Soderblom is poised to break out, Berggren could put him and Carter Mazur to shame if he applies himself next season.
Berggren will be re-joining a team he saw top-line play with Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond near the end of the year, after McLellan took control.
Berggren posted 4 points in two games on April 14th & 16th, so the chemistry was building between him and his linemates.

1st Line Ambitions

While his breakout wasn't half a season or a season-long, the mini-breakout is too small a sample size to judge how he'll produce next year.
His stellar performance in that short period of time doesn't help his case, considering he's only tallied 24 points in 75 games with the Wings, and the help of Raymond and Larkin last year.
He could still turn out to be a 12-13 TOI player, and doesn't replicate his breakout to start the season.
The former 33rd overall pick in 2018 has seen himself jump between the AHL and NHL for three seasons now, and hasn't been able to make a case for himself on the top line.
He'll be going up against doubters, haters, and maybe even himself if he lacks confidence.
He will likely get another long look on the top line with Larkin and Raymond, depending on how he performs in training camp, and ultimately, McLellan and Yzerman's plans for the forward.
Of course, there'll be other variables to account for in the lineup, depending on how Alex DeBrincat performs and whether or not he'll be promoted.
In all earnest, it's kind of difficult to see how Berggren has earned such a long leash, given all the talent that is waiting in the wings.
Berggren might've been better used as part of a trade package for a top-six winger, but now is another chance at developing in Detroit for another year.
