Lucas Raymond nearing Detroit Red Wings history
The young forward Lucas Raymond could soon make Detroit Red Wings history, according to a new report.
Since he was drafted 4th overall in 2020, after Detroit fell unexpectedly in the draft order despite finishing with the league's worst record, he's been a constant player for the Wings.
With 254 points in 320 games and 80 points last season alone, he's quietly become one of the most productive under-25 forwards in the NHL.
It wasn't just a subtle jab. Raymond outscored every player on that list last year. He did it while playing tough minutes, producing in clutch moments, and continuing to evolve his all-around game at only 23 years old.
But a few days later, the NHL released another statement that highlighted an impressive mark within Raymond's reach.
"Lucas Raymond (98) can be the 10th player in Red Wings history to score 100 career goals before his 24th birthday. Steve Yzerman (229) is the only one with at least 200."
Now, he's about to enter elite Red Wings company. The last player to hit 100 goals before turning 24?
Dylan Larkin. Before him? Names like Howe, Yzerman, Fedorov, Dionne. Legends. Hall of Famers.
And Raymond is just getting started.
He's entering the second season of an eight-year contract. If the trend continues, 80 points might only be the beginning.
Under a brand new coaching staff and with a new number-one goalie on the team, Raymond and the Red Wings could finally be in a position to return to the playoffs for the first time in 10 years, which would mark Raymond's first taste of NHL playoff hockey.
