The Detroit Red Wings have issued a special announcement on newly acquired goaltender John Gibson

The Detroit Red Wings organization issued a special announcement on their new goalie John Gibson.
Earlier in the offseason, the veteran goalie John Gibson was traded to Detroit by the Anaheim Ducks for Petr Mrazek, a 2027 second-round pick and a fourth-round pick in 2026.
Today marked a special day for Gibson, who celebrates his 32nd birthday, and the Red Wings made sure to highlight the occasion with the following post on social media:
Gibson brings a lot of experience to Detroit. In 506 games with the Ducks, he tallied a 2.89 goals-against average, a .910 save percentage, and 24 shutouts. Now, he's eager to get to work with the team:
"It's an exciting opportunity. You get a team that really wants to get back to playoff hockey. They've been so close for a couple of years, and for me coming in and being part of it It's a historic franchise, the new arena. It's a really exciting time. I'm really privileged and honored to be coming in and be part of it all."
In the same interview, he added that leaving Anaheim wasn't easy but is excitied to prove himself on the ice and help the team get to the playoffs:
"You have to say bye to a lot of close friendships inside and outside the organization. But for me and my family, we're really excited for the next chapter. I still feel like I have a lot left to prove."
