The Red Wings have a big issue with the blue line, and they cannot wait any longer to fix it. The defense was one of the worst in the league last year, being well into the bottom half with a 3.16 goals against per game average, and It's starting to affect the goaltending as well, with Alex Lyon and Cam Talbot finishing 28th and 33rd in the league in terms of goals against average.

So, here's three defensemen the Red Wings can bring into the Motor City.
The first one being Ryan Lindgren. Lindgren, 27 years old, was dealt to the Colorado Avalanche by the New York Rangers just last season. Throughout 72 games with both the Avalanche and Rangers, Lindgren tallied 22 points. Lindgren played in seven playoff games with the Avs and put up three assists. Lindgren is more of a defensive defenseman, which is exactly what the Wings need, and is a good penalty killer as well.
Secondly, Vladislav Gavrikov. Gavrikov, 29 years old, has spent the last three years on the Los Angeles Kings. Gavrikov had 30 points in a fully played 82-game season with two points in six playoff games. Gavrikov led the Kings in penalty killing minutes last season and proved to be a valuable asset for Los Angeles. He's a defensive first minded defenseman, which matches Lindgren.
Last but not least, Nate Schmidt. Schmidt has been a huge piece to the Florida Panthers playoff run so far and a big piece to the Panthers in general. The 33-year-old veteran defenseman is proving himself into a fancy contract over the summer. Schmidt had 19 points in 80 games over the regular season, but in the playoffs, he has taken off, tallying 12 points in 23 games and has come big in many moments.
All those three will help Detroit out a lot.
