With just 9 games left in the regular season, the Detroit Red wings are barely hanging on, currently on the outside looking in. Additionally, the Wings' have been plagued with injuries as goaltender Petr Mrzek and forward Elmer Söderblom have been sidelined. While their absence has undoubtedly impacted the team, head coach Todd McLellan has recently provided some important updates regarding their timelines.
The Detroit Red Wings are still in the hunt to chase down the last wild card spot in the Eastern Conference, but the team is running out of time.

Elmer Söderblom skated on his own today, still day-to-day.
Neither will make trip for Tuesday's game at St. Louis.
Head coach Todd McLellan said Monday that Mrazek is expected to get back on the ice this week but is still "a ways from returning,"
Soderblom skated on his own Monday but won't travel with the team to St. Louis. He will miss his fourth straight outing after returning to the lineup against Utah last Monday following a one-game absence.
With the Detroit Red Wings just one breath away from missing out on post-season contention, the team will need all the help they can get.
Hopefully, both players can slot back into the lineup before the Red Wings wings season becomes obsolete.
Currently, both players have been getting back on the ice, which is an encouraging sign as they continue their recovery.
