Following last night's 2-1 loss to the divisional foe Ottawa Senators, a top radio host in Detroit is declaring that the Red Wings season is over.

It was a cruel ironic twist for the Detroit Red Wings against their divisional foe Ottawa Senators in last night's 2-1 regulation loss, Detroit's 6th straight.
Ottawa's 1st goal was scored by ex-Red Wing David Perron, and the game-winner late in the 3rd period was scored by Dylan Cozens, who the Red Wings were linked to but ultimately decided they didn't need to acquire.
As if that weren't enough, Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark, who was named a potential fit for the Red Wings to acquire last summer, came up with the game of his life and made 48 saves.
97.1 The Ticket host Mike Valenti put out a question to the listening audience in metro-Detroit - is it time to call it curtains on the 2024-25 Red Wings?
I said look, if they lose this thing in regulation and they don't even get a point...it feels to me like the season's over.

Again guys, there's 11 games on the road and seven at home, you have two against the Golden Knights, two against the Hurricanes, you've got Florida on it, it's a real murderer's row and this team is snake bitten.

Are you ready to call time of death for the 2024-25 Detroit Red Wings? Are you ready to sign the death certificate? You're not a bad person if you say yes and you're not a bad person if you say no. But, here's the power stat. Do you realize they've been stuck on 66 points for two weeks? And now the gap is growing.

It is a question, don't get all bent out of shape - are you ready to call it and sign the death certificate on this team, and did you view this game as a referendum on the Yzerplan?

The Red Wings now trail the Senators in the standings by 5 points and have also been leapfrogged by the New York Rangers. They face an absolute must-win situation tomorrow night in Detroit against the struggling Sabres.
