The Detroit Red Wings organization appears poised to sign a 526-game NHL veteran in free agency, per a new report.

Jack Roslovic, a 28-year-old right-handed forward, is the biggest name still available in free agency, nearly a month after the market's opening.
Given his consistent production and playoff experience, it's surprising he hasn't yet found a new home. Now, the Red Wings are emerging as a potential landing spot.

Red Wings To Sign Roslovic?

Roslovic is coming off a 22-goal, 39-point season with the Carolina Hurricanes. He scored at least 30 points in each of the last five seasons and is known for his elite skating and ability to play both center and wing.
The Wings desperately need to bolster their offensive group. A guy like Roslovic would provide welcomed depth to the group, after an underwhelming summer in Detroit for the forwards.
Other teams such as Vancouver and Toronto are still in the mix, but Detroit offers a clear role, cap space, and a culture on the rise.
All signs suggest that if the Red Wings want Roslovic, they're well-positioned to make it happen.
With NHL training camps set to start in just over a month, it wouldn't be surprising to see Roslovic signing a deal in the coming weeks. If not a standard player contract, a professional tryout could be how it gets done.
Drafted in the first round of the 2015 NHL Draft by the Winnipeg Jets, Roslovic took part in 526 games for the Jets, Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers, and Carolina Hurricanes, tallying 260 points in that time. He also played in 45 playoff games, scoring 17 points over five runs.
Stay tuned as updates on his contractual situation should come soon.
