What are Christian Fischer's expectations for next season?
Christian Fischer's first season with the Detroit Red Wings was underwhelming, even by his admission. Reflecting on his performance, Fischer expressed frustration with his offensive output, which saw him tally just 5 goals and 19 points in 79 games.
«Early on the season, I remember thinking to myself, I'm watching my clips and just kind of shaking my head thinking, 'How the heck did I not put that one in?» Fischer said.
Fischer, now signed to another one-year deal at the same $1.125 million salary, is determined to improve in the 2024-25 campaign.
«I know I should be well over the double-digits in my goal mark,» he acknowledged, aiming for a better season ahead.
With the departure of key scorers like Daniel Sprong, Robby Fabbri, and David Perron, the Red Wings need more from Fischer. His past performance with the Arizona Coyotes, where he scored 13 goals and 27 points in 2022-23, shows he has the potential.
While offense isn't Fischer's primary role as a bottom-six forward, he knows he can do better.
«I've done it before. I've been right around that mark and 30 to 40 points. That's kind of my bread and butter,» Fischer stated.
If Fischer can achieve 10 goals and 30 points, it would significantly boost Detroit.
