Milan Lucic agrees to offer from Central Division team in hopes to make comeback to the NHL
Milan Lucic has been reinstated by the NHL and commissioner Gary Bettman following his completion of the NHL Players Association program with the NHLPA, and has now accepted a professional tryout offer (PTO) with a Central Division team, in hopes to make a return to the league.
The 17-year-long veteran has had a steady career of 1,177 games, spanning across stints with the Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, and Boston Bruins. Throughout that duration, the gritty forward has tallied up 586 points and a whopping 1,301 penalty minutes.
His most recent showing came in the 2023-24 season with the Boston Bruins in October, where he inked a contract during the summer in free agency, but would ultimately be forced to step away from the game due to off-ice complications.
After a longtime away, they want to ensure the 37-year-old forward can keep up with today's NHL pace through training camp, before securing an official contract.
St. Louis Blues can greatly benefit from Lucic's playoff experience
Milan Lucic's postseason performances can certainly give the Blues a boost. In 136 playoff games, which includes the 2011 Stanley Cup winning Boston Bruins, he has recorded 77 points (29 goals, 48 assists).
With a youth-packed lineup surrounding
Jimmy Snuggerud and
Jordan Kyrou, he will also serve as a protector, giving many space to flourish.
