A terrible tragedy struck the hockey community with the passing of a former OHL player at only 32 years old.

The former OHL player Giovanni Michael Robinson reportedly passed away Wednesday morning in what the police are calling a drive by.
Sportsnet revealed they are still seeking information:
"Police are calling the shooting a "senseless act" and urge anyone with information to come forward."

Robinson played junior hockey with the Stouffville Spirit before joining the Niagara IceDogs in the OHL in 2012. He later took part in five seasons with Ontario Tech University's hockey program in Oshawa.
"The OHL extends thoughts and condolences to Mike Robinson's family and friends at this very difficult time. A GoFundMe has been set up in support of Mike's young family."
The investigation remains ongoing, with no suspects in custody and no clear motive at this time.
Robinson leaves behind a young family. He got married in 2022, lived in Pennsylvania with his wife, and had just welcomed a newborn daughter six weeks ago.

Mike Robinson remembered by loved ones

His brother Jacob Robinson described just how special Mike was in an interview:
"He was one-of-a-kind. He was an incredible, incredible person. There's literally no one like him. He was my younger brother, but I truly did look up to him.

I always say everything he touched turned to gold. No matter where he went or who he was with, he just always lit up the room."

Earlier that same day, Robinson had been celebrating a hole-in-one at Whistling Straits Golf Club, where he was participating in an annual tournament.
Jacob explained that the family had been together that evening, going for dinner and later stopping by a bar.
Nothing suggested that anything unusual or dangerous was about to unfold.
"He was a beautiful human, always happy, always smiling. He had such a zest for life. I think we're all just still in shock."

Police have called the incident a senseless act and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Meanwhile, Robinson's loved ones are left grieving the loss of a man remembered as both an athlete and, most importantly, a devoted husband and father.
We extend our sincerest condolences to those affected by this tragedy.
