Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin heaped a ton of praise on defenseman Moritz Seider for his efforts during training camp.

The Detroit Red Wings view the 2025-26 season as a chance to bounce back from last year.
The year in which they finished 6th in the Atlantic triggering, a cleaning in the front office, and a total status quo change (other than the GM, of course).
During training camp, you can see the team has bought into the message of "progress" and Coach Todd McLellan's philosophy.
Last night's victory over the Blackhawks marked a change in tone from last season, as they put up a great effort against their Original Six rivals. Though the Red Wings had one player who stood out, according to center Dylan Larkin.
Captain Larkin would notice his teammate's efforts during the practices and preseason games held recently. He's been impressed with Moritz Seider's physical play during camp.

«He's hard to play against, and I'm thankful he's on our team,» Larkin said. «I don't like playing against him. He looks good. He sets the tone physically. I've really been impressed with his camp and the first phase of it.»

Seider is a towering 6-foot-8 defenseman who has had no trouble leveling his own teammates during practice. He sent forward Elmer Soderblom over the bench after a monstrous hit on Sept. 20th, according to NHL Insider Max Bultman.
The young defenseman has increased his compete level on the ice in order to challenge his team to do better.
Last season, he finished the year with 46 points (8-38) and has proven himself to be the Red Wings' best defenseman.
Seider signed a $59.85 million deal with the Red Wings on September 19th, 2024.
He has five years remaining on the deal, which pays him $8.5 million average annual value (AAV).
