Detroit Red Wings acquire Stanley Cup winning defenseman in blockbuster trade proposal
GM Steve Yzerman of the Detroit Red Wings could add some serious talent in a trade proposal that sees the team make a move for Colorado Avalanche defenseman Samuel Girard.
Samuel Girard is a Stanley Cup-winning defenseman with the Colorado Avalanche. He's been a reliable fixture in the team's top four.
For the Red Wings, they have
Moritz Seider but could always expand their depth, including taking talent from their rivals, the Avalanche.
Though the feud isn't as pronounced as it used to be, the history is there. When it comes to the Red Wings, according to Heavy.com, they should target defenseman Samuel Girard.
Girard played 73 games and scored 24 points (3-21) for the Avalanche last season and held a top-four role. The
Red Wings might have to give up some assets to acquire him, but the playoff experience might be worth it.
The Cost To Acquire Girard from The Avalanche
The Red Wings might have to give up nothing more than a bottom-six forward in Michael Rasmussen, Erik Gustafsson, and a third-round pick.
That's a bargain of a deal if I've ever seen it, especially for someone like Girard.
The Red Wings would have to work to sign Girard, as he's in the last year of his 7-year, $55 million deal signed with the Avalanche. But in return, they would solve another problem on the blue line.
The Red Wings would part ways with 2017 1st-round pick Michael Rasmussen, who hasn't lived up to his draft selection and could find a new home in Colorado.
