Anaheim Ducks GM Pat Verbeek reveals who he wants from the Detroit Red Wings in a Mason McTavish trade
A new report unveiled who the Anaheim Ducks GM Pat Verbeek wants from the Detroit Red Wings organization in a potential Mason McTavish trade.
Mason McTavish remains unsigned as we near the middle of August, suggesting an extension deal could be off the table at this point.
But despite their impressive prospect pool, the Ducks can't really afford to see McTavish walk away from the team with nothing in return.
Over the summer, multiple reports highlighted the Ducks' holes at the blue line, and it was suggested Verbeek could be willing to part ways with the star forward for a great young right-handed defenseman.
If a deal were to materialize with the Wings, only a few players would interest the Ducks, at a price that Steve Yzerman could refuse to pay.
We Now Know What The Red Wings Need To Pay To Get Mason McTavish
In an interesting report published last week, RG.org's Jimmy Murphy wrote about how the connection between Yzerman and Verbeek, two former teammates, could serve as the Wings look to get McTavish.
"Unless you're willing to get creative and knock Pat's socks off with a monster offer, I don't see him getting traded at this point,» the source told RG recently. «A right-shot, top-four and future top-pairing defenseman would be the starting point from what I know. I don't see the Wings moving Moritz Seider, so you're likely talking Axel Sandin-Pellikka."
