Analyzing the Red Wings' signing of Jesse Kiiskinen
The Detroit Red Wingsand GM Steve Yzerman signed former Nashville Predators prospect, Jesse Kiiskinen, to an entry-level contract today.
The
Detroit Red Wings have added another prospect to their pipeline full of top talent. His name is Jesse Kiiskinen, a Finnish forward who at one point was a Nashville Predators prospect.
The deal was signed after Kiiskinen had a great year in Finland, playing in SM Liiga for HPK Hameenlinna.
The 19-year-old was given a three-year, entry-level deal by the Red Wings, and he'll be headed to Grand Rapids.
The former third-round pick tallied 44 points (14 goals, 30 assists) in 46 games this season.
His three-year deal will pay him an AAV of $923K with a total value of $2,769,999.
Kiiskinen was drafted 68th overall in the third round of the 2023 NHL Draft and apparently couldn't make the cut in the Nashville Predators system.
Now, with a rebuilding Detroit Red Wings, he could turn heads and earn his way up the depth chart if he can play well enough in the AHL.
We imagine Kiiskinen caught someone in the organization's eye, as he helped the Finnish team to a Silver Medal during the 2025 IIHF World Championships, scoring a total of 7 points (6 goals, 1 assist) in 7 games.
Kiiskinen began his professional career in Finland in 2022-2023 playing for the Lahit Pelicans.
At 6'1", 190 pounds, he stands to add some serious size to the Red Wings forward group.
