Ahead of the game against the New York Islanders on Saturday, Calgary Flames general manager Craig Conroy has sent a bold message to Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman regarding defenseman Rasmus Andersson.

The Detroit Red Wings could still be in the mix for defenseman Rasmus Andersson of the Calgary Flames.
As a hot commodity, the messaging surrounding Andersson has implied there would be a deal done before the Olympic break in February.
The Swedish-born blueliner has been a Red Wings trade target recently. But it seems all the progress made may be undone on Saturday.
Instead of being healthy-scratched due to business reasons (similarly worded for trade purposes), he will be taking the ice against Patrick Roy and the Islanders.
Sending a message to GM Steve Yzerman that none of the offers were good enough for the blueliner.
At least that's how Wes Gilbertson, who covers the Flames for Postmedia, sees it.
"Not oblivious to the risk of injury, but this feels like poker by #Flames general manager Craig Conroy - it's a message to somebody that he's waiting on a better offer."

Is Calgary Flames GM Craig Conroy depending on his poker face to spite the Detroit Red Wings?

It doesn't feel like the wrong kind of message to take, either, given how many teams have been involved along the way for the $27 million defensemen who's in the last year of his contract.
Was the Red Wings' original trade offer too low, or is Conroy asking too much?
It could be poker face at play from Conroy. For Yzerman, the name of the game is to wrest Andersson from the clutches of the Flames and push for a deep run in the playoffs. This could be a stopping point for some teams involved.
This season, he's scored 29 points in 47 games and scored 31 in 81 last season. He's punching above his weight this year and could surpass last year's production easily.
