Carter Hart's next NHL team may already be known: The Detroit Red Wings must give it a chance
The Detroit Red Wings and GM Steve Yzerman could find their new #1 goalie in Carter Hart, who, as a Philadelphia Flyer, gave the team a chance to win every night, and is he bound for redemption in Hockeytown?
Now that the Hockey Canada trial has come to an end, players will have a chance to find themselves back in a familiar situation on the ice.
The Red Wings could be one of the teams interested in acquiring Carter Hart's services, when reinstated, of course.
The team has $12 million available in cap space and could allocate a small portion to
Carter Hart, who hasn't played an NHL game since the 2023-24 season.
Hart would be a game changer for the Red Wings. He's played a total of 227 NHL games during his career, with a 2.94 GAA, 96-93--29, and a .906 save percentage.
Carter Hart's Return Imminent According to NHL Insider
"Carter Hart will play in the NHL.
I do not doubt it.
He will be acquitted, which paves the way for a return. "
- Eric Macramalla
Since Carter Hart has been acquitted, he'd need to find a team to sign him to a new deal in the NHL. There'll be a bidding war for Hart's talents undoubtedly, as he's got the potential to be a starting goalie in the NHL, and may come at an affordable cost.
Thus opening the door for Steve Yzerman and the Red Wings to find the means to sign him.
Hart is a 6-foot-2, 196-pound goalie who was a former 48th overall draft pick in the 2016 NHL Draft.
