City of Detroit officially having another hockey franchise coming to the city in 2025-26

NHL Insider David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period reported today that the City of Detroit will be hosting another hockey franchise in the 2025-26 season.
The City of Detroit won't only be hosting the Detroit Red Wings this season.
As it was reported today by NHL Insider David Pagnotta, the City would be hosting the PWHL (Professional Women's Hockey League), as part of the league's "PWHL Take Over Tour".
What better spot than an original-six city in order to expand your league's profile than a city that is renowned for its contributions to the sport of hockey?
Detroit was originally part of the first takeover tour, which saw the Minnesota Frost and New York Sirens play in Little Caesars Arena last season.

Detroit Is Home for the PWHL Take Over Tour Again In 2025-26
In an effort to grow their fanbase, they are targeting neutral sites like Detroit to help grow the game of women's hockey.
This year will be no different as the PWHL works on expanding its footprint in the professional sports arena.
It's made viewing their games easily accessible, making them available on YouTube for fans' leisure. Instead of limiting the fans to a paid app, they're growing their base organically.
