Concerning injury news plagues a top prospect of the Detroit Red Wings: His development's halted
Defenseman Anton Johansson has begun the 2025-26 season in the SHL with Leksand, and the Detroit Red Wings prospect has had his development halted, with an untimely injury.
While Anton Johansson started the SHL season with flying colors, he may
want to forget this past Saturday.
This weekend, he and his SHL team, Leksand, took on Lulea.
The team would suffer a debilitating loss, 4-1 to Lulea, and it was compounded by the defenseman's own actions. He'd open the scoring for the game, putting the puck in his own team's net.
After the unfortunate event, during intermission after the second period, it was revealed by Leksand Coach Johan Hedberg that Johansson would remain out of the game due to an undisclosed injury.
«I don't know, I'm not a doctor,» Hedberg told Sweden's TV4 when asked what the issue was with Johansson.
Anton Johansson's Development in Question
Detroit originally selected Johansson 105th overall in the 2022 NHL Draft. He'd play a handful of games with the Grand Rapids Griffins last year, before the season ended, and would
earn himself an entry-level
contract from the Red Wings.
The young defender has only played 5 games this season for Leksand, and has scored 2 points, and at 21 is leading the team with ice-time.
The Red Wings prospect has been skating 21:53 per night.
Now with an undisclosed injury and no timeline to return,
the prospect will have to make up lost time when he finally returns from what is plaguing him.
