In an intriguing trade proposal, the Detroit Red Wings and GM Steve Yzerman acquire Calgary Flames top-four defenseman, Rasmus Andersson.

With the addition of John Gibson, you can tell there are holes in the lineup, and with this latest trade proposal, they could seal another gap.
The Detroit Red Wings need to bolster their blueline. It's been a weakness this season, as Rasmus Andersson could be another linchpin that sends the team into playoff contention.
Andersson has played the majority of his career in the NHL with the Calgary Flames and can play top-four minutes.
The defenseman could be acquired for a pretty penny, however but for some teams in the NHL, that's the cost of winning:

The Red Wings Improve the Lineup With Rasmus Andersson

Andersson is a $27 million defenseman who is caught in the midst of the Flames retool by GM Craig Conroy. With an obvious competitive streak, he may feel he's better suited elsewhere in the NHL for a team that has a win-now mentality.
For Yzerman, there couldn't be a better candidate at the moment than Andersson, whose name has swirled in trade rumors this summer.
The veteran defenseman and the Flames have failed to come to terms on their latest contract:
«It does not sound like Andersson and the Flames will be coming to terms on a contract extension,» The Fourth Period reported. «He has one year remaining on his current deal, and trade talks have picked up. There is solid interest in Andersson and Flames GM Craig Conroy is trying to maximize a return, be it this off-season or leading up to the trade deadline.

For the Red Wings, his cap hit would be affordable at $4.55 million AAV. He could lend a hand to the team's PK, which could use some improvement, but the cost might be a drawback for some fans.
For the NHL, the going price of a right-shot defenseman is high on the market, as we've seen with someone like Seth Jones recently.
In 81 games this season, he scored 31 points (11-20) with the Calgary Flames.
