A trade proposal found online suggests Steve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings could make a massive offer to the Minnesota Wild to get Kirill Kaprizov.

The first-line left wing spot is the biggest weakness on Detroit's lineup, and while James van Riemsdyk can still chip in at 36, he isn't the type of player a playoff contender wants in that role. Even if Alex DeBrincat takes that spot on the first line, the second unit would still be missing a legitimate top-end winger.
After a disappointing summer where Yzerman hasn't been able to hit a home run on free agency or the trade market, a massive scenario suggested that his big move could come at some point in the next year.

Yzerman To Acquire Kirill Kaprizov, Per New Trade Proposal

The Wild superstar is entering the final year of his contract, and if he were to change teams, he could be exactly the kind of addition that would bring the team to the next level.
Rumors suggest that if extension talks stall, the Wild might have no choice but to explore a trade. At 28, Kaprizov is in his prime, and for a young, cap-flexible team like Detroit, the fit is hard to ignore.
"Red Wings receive:
Kirill Kaprizov, F
Kyle Masters, D

Wild receive:
Michael Rasmussen, F
Michael Brandsegg-Nygard, F
2026 first-round pick"

The Wild won't let Kaprizov go easily, but could have no choice if the player decides to take his talents elsewhere.
GM Bill Guerin had this to say about Kaprizov's contract:
"This will be a huge deal-likely the biggest in the NHL ever. There's no better human being or better hockey player or better person than Kirill. I think it will be a good conversation that we'll have with him. I'm very anxious and looking forward to that conversation. I think we'll move quickly after that."

"I don't want our market to go into an all-out panic mode here. The most important thing to me is Kirill and not getting him put in a bad spot. We love him. He's a wonderful guy. He's an unbelievable player. And we want him."

After all, he did refuse to sign an eight-year, $16M AAV contract with the Wild, suggesting he's not that interested in remaining in Minnesota, or wants to sign a short-term deal.
In that case, Yzerman could be reluctant to ship away a big package to Minnesota for a player who won't commit long-term.
Rasmussen and Brandsegg-Nygard are two forwards who could be in the Wings' top six over the coming years, and parting ways with them won't be easy.
