Worrying injury puts dark cloud over the Detroit Red Wings prospect pool
According to a recent report from the Detroit Red Wings, 1st-round pick and future star Carter Bear has been taken out of the lineup due to injury, with Amadeus Lombardi stepping in to take on the Dallas Stars.
The Detroit Red Wings are out a former 1st-round pick due to
Carter Bear suffering an injury.
There's been no update on Carter Bear's status after the news was released on X.
Bear was drafted
13th overall by the Red Wings in Los Angeles.
The former Everett Silvertips forward is joining a team undergoing a rebuild, which isn't complete. The team finished 6th in the Atlantic and hopes that Bear could be a future solution to their woes.
But it looks like he won't be showing his skills this weekend, as he has suffered an undisclosed injury.
The team would take him out of the lineup, and in his place, Amadeus Lombardi plays tonight.
Carter Bears Future With the Red Wings
Last season in the WHL, with the Everett Silvertips, he scored 40-42-82 in 56 games. Bear would be one of the top prospects expected to go early in the 1st round of the 2025 NHL Draft, which the Red Wings made a reality.
Injury troubles have been common for Bear, so this news is alarming.
Last March, he suffered a
torn ACL that ended his season in the WHL early.
Now, suffering another injury in training camp, we wonder how severe his injury is and whether or not he will miss significant time during camp.
The Red Wings could've used this time to gauge whether or not he's ready to jump to the AHL or remain in the juniors with the Silvertips and build his strength in preparation to turn pro.
