The Detroit Red Wings have traded away forward Vladimir Tarasenko to the Minnesota Wild, in what seems to be a cap-dump deal.

Tarasenko was a buyout candidate from the Red Wings this offseason, as his $4.75M cap hit for his recent poor point production did not add up.
UPDATE: The #RedWings have traded Vladimir Tarasenko to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for future considerations.

No salary retained for the Red Wings trading away Tarasenko

Rather than a buyout and having to continue paying Tarasenko for the remainder of his contract, Yzerman found a way to move with the contract at completely no cost.
This all but opens up more cap space ahead of July 1st free agency on Tuesday, adding anticipation to a big Red Wings signing.
