The Detroit Red Wings' general manager, Steve Yzerman, has provided a crucial update on veteran forward, Patrick Kane, regarding recent contract negotiations.
While the Detroit Red Wings are in the midst of their ongoing rebuild, the organization is in desperate need to make quick and smart decisions regarding who they want to acquire and depart with this offseason.
And recent intel has surfaced regarding contract extensions between the Detroit Red Wings and their forward, Patrick Kane, and it seems as though he will be re-signing with the organization.

It has been revealed that Red Wings' general manager, Steve Yzerman, recently stated that he still expects to get a deal done with the organization's pending UFA (Unrestricted Free Agent), Kane, as free agency's opening looms on Tuesday.
That being said, Yzerman also unveiled that he has had conversations with Kane as well as his agent, Pat Brisson.
«I'm hopeful that we can get something done soon, and that's my intention,» Yzerman stated. «So, we'll see if we can't get that done shortly.»
Re-signing Patrick Kane is crucial for the Detroit Red Wings' intentions to break their nine-year playoff absence and further their re-build, as this veteran has become an important piece for the organization, both as a top-six winger and a key fixture of the power play.
He has arguably been a key piece to the Red Wings' lineup and would be an extremely hard player to replace, as the fit has been so good for both sides.
Although it is not confirmed what Kane's new contract will look like, it is seeming as though Detroit fans can expect to see this veteran in the Red Wings' lineup next season.
