NHL Insider Kevin Weekes " gave us some insight onSteve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings priorities this week, as it appears Vladimir Tarasenko is a goner, if what he says is true.

The Detroit Red Wings could be poised to make a major trade this week. According to NHL Insider, Kevin Weekes, Steve Yzerman will make it a point to trade Stanley Cup champion, Vladimir Tarasenko, this week.
Tarasenko has had a disappointing run with the Red Wings, scoring only 33 points (11-22) after a season after winning the Stanley Cup.
He production took a major dip in Detroit, despite Derek Lalonde and Todd McLellan's best efforts. It now seems as if Tarasenko could be the first piece to fall before free agency kicks into high gear.
Needless to say, Yzerman has a mandate to make it into the playoffs after six disappointing seasons as GM for the Red Wings.
There's been speculation that Tarasenko could be traded to the Ottawa Senators or Florida Panthers, but there's been no true suitor established for the two-time Stanley Cup winner.
He'd be a great fit in the top nine for a contending team that needs depth goal-scoring talent. However, this isn't the same Tarasenko who was in his prime during his first run to the Cup.
It's obvious the return value may be low for someone like Tarasenko, but in this instance, it would be addition by subtraction as he doesn't seem like a fit in Hockeytown.
