The Detroit Red Wings have sadly confirmed the passing of former forward Dwight Foster, a former right-wing forward who donned the Winged Wheel in the early 1980s.
The Detroit Red Wings are saddened to learn of the passing of Dwight Foster, a former player who recorded 110 points in 215 games played with the #RedWings from 1982-1986.
Our condolences go out to his family and friends during this time.
Foster was taken by the Boston Bruins in the 1977 NHL Entry Draft (16th overall) and played a pair of separate tenures with the club.
He was traded to the Detroit Red Wings in 1982 from the New Jersey Devils (who were formerly the Colorado Rockies) in exchange for $1; he registered 110 points (48G, 62A) during his time in Detroit.
He also played with the Kitchener Rangers of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League before making the NHL.
