One NHL insider has troubling news regarding the Detroit Red Wings' top-six forward, Patrick Kane, and his most recent injury.
The three-time Stanley Cup champion, who has been a fixture in the Red Wings lineup, has
been out of the lineup after suffering an injury during Friday's OT win against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
While the
team would secure a 2-1 OT win against one of the Atlantic Division's top teams, they'd lose Kane.
He scored 59 points (21-38) last season and was a fixture on the top-six, a proven winner.
Now, the latest from The Grind Line Podcast, which has insider information on the situation, sounds much worse than originally expected.
"Patrick Kane is still not practicing. A couple of people have told us it is worse than it initially appeared."
He'll miss the next two games minimum.
Patrick Kane's Injury: Worse Than Originally Thought?
It's been announced that Kane will miss the next two games on the road against the Buffalo Sabres and the New York Islanders on the team's road trip.
"Head coach Todd McLellan told reporters on Tuesday that Kane will miss the next two road games against the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday and the New York Islanders on Thursday. He won't travel with the team during the road trip."
Head Coach Todd McLellan said the team would be re-evaluating him before Saturday's game against the St. Louis Blues.
For now, the Red Wings and Kane are in limbo.
Not a great time for a team that has attained the top position in the Atlantic Division.
The Red Wings are 5-1 in the Atlantic Division and are without one of their best forwards right now.
