Detroit Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider's year isn't over, as he'll be joining the German squad set to compete in the 2025 IIHF World Championship.
The Detroit Red Wings have broken for the summer after failing to earn a postseason spot for the 9th straight year, which is an unfortunate new franchise record.
However, the year isn't over for defenseman Moritz Seider; he'll be joining the German squad that is set to compete in the 2025 IIHF World Championship.
Prominent reinforcements for the DEB team: Moritz Seider and Lukas Reichel have been cleared to join the German national team's World Cup squad!
Seider, who has never missed a game in his NHL career that has now lasted a full 4 years, is only a few consecutive games short of breaking the team record previously set by John Ogrodnick to start a career.
After appearing in his 300th consecutive game in February, Seider spoke about how fortunate he was to have been able to stay this healthy and durable.
Fortunate to play every single game, just try to continue that. If you're not severely injured, I think you always find a way to get yourself going and be out there. I take a lot of pride in being ready every single time. Hopefully, I can continue that for a long time here.
Seider finished with 46 points (8G, 38A) in 82 games this year, the 1st of a 7-year extension that he signed in September. His fellow teammate Lucas Raymond agreed to a similar deal on the same day, an 8-year pact; both players are part of Detroit's foundation and will be around for the long-term.
