Detroit Red Wings defensemen unveils heartbreaking injury info that ended 2024-25 NHL season
Although the Detroit Red Wings' 2024/25 NHL season has come to an end, new information has finally surfaced regarding a defensemen who endured a heartbreaking injury.
The Detroit Red Wings newly acquired defensemen,
Erik Gustafsson, has revealed devastating details regarding his season-ending injury that concluded in him being sidelined for the remained of the 2024/25 NHL season, and it is shocking.
The Red Wings signed
Gustafsson on a two-year contract with an AAV of $2 million in July of 2024, where he accumulated two goals, 16 assists, totalling with a whopping 18 points in 60 games.
However, towards the end of the 2024/25 season, Gustafsson left the Red Wings with an unknown injury which has been revealed to have been a broken foot which kept him out of the league for the remainder of the year.
Despite the unfortunate circumstances, the defensemen is now fully recovered in Stockholm, Sweden, playing at the 2025 IIHF Men's World Championship, where he has finally broke his silence regarding the injury.
«I broke my foot four weeks before the season was over, so I kind of wanted to come back,» Gustafsson said. «I just wanted to end it on a good note, play the last games of the season. Also being back home in Avicii Arena here, in front of our fans and family, it was an easy decision. I always want to play for the Swedish National Team.»
He also revealed his excitement to play at home in front of his family and friends:
«It's also fun to be back in Stockholm playing at home in front of my friends and family and in front of his friends and family. It's good to see his wife and kids too.»
