Trade: Detroit Red Wings acquire former 9th overall pick from Minnesota in proposed deal
With a talented core of young players, many experienced leaders, and a new head coach, general manager Steve Yzerman could be looking to add one or two more top players to the team to get to the next level in the 2025-26 campaign.
In the latest edition of the Winged Wheel Podcast, a massive trade between the Red Wings and the Minnesota Wild was proposed that could help both teams reach their goals next year.
Trade Proposal: Red Wings To Acquire Top Forward From The Minnesota Wild
The Minnesota Wild have one of the deepest prospect pools in the entire NHL, and after another first-round exit in the last playoffs, they could decide to trade a player to make way for a younger prospect.
The idea of them sending
Marco Rossi to the Red Wings was put forward in the following podcast, around the 17m45s mark:
In 82 games this season, Rossi, 23, scored 60 points, including 24 goals, and finished the year with a +3 goal differential.
He could bring a lot to the team, possibly developing into a top-line forward over the coming seasons.
Rossi will be a restricted free agent, and if the Red Wings don't want to get in the offer sheet business, they could offer an interesting return on the trade market.
Stay tuned for all the developments regarding the Red Wings' pick and Rossi's future with the Minnesota Wild.
