The Detroit Red Wings have been forced into making an emergency roster move following the injury during last night's 5-4 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Detroit Red Wings picked up two valuable points thanks to last night's 5-4 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.
No official update has been given on Petry's condition, but the Red Wings have indicated that he's likely not going to be able to play on Saturday against the Winnipeg Jets in Manitoba (7:00 PM, FanDuel Sports Detroit, 97.1 The Ticket).
They've recalled defenseman William Lagesson from the Grand Rapids Griffins:
Lagesson has already played a pair of games with the Red Wings this year.
Jeff Petry was hurt in the 3rd period of last night's game and didn't return
Petry's injury took place midway through the 3rd period; he appeared to get tied up with Blue Jackets' Kirill Marchenko, who was about to fire a shot attempt at Cam Talbot. Petry fell to the ice and was assisted by Simon Edvinsson as he made his way back to the bench hunched over in pain.
(Injury takes place at the 6:37 mark)
While coach Todd McLellan wasn't able to offer a specific diagnosis of Petry's condition, he indicated that it wasn't a good sign that Petry wasn't able to return.
Nothing yet, I would share that with you. He was getting looked at after the game. I think any time that a player doesn't return with that much time left, it's never a good sign, but we'll see how he is in the morning.
