The Detroit Red Wings have been linked to their former draft pick, who's been a fixture in the Edmonton Oilers lineup.

Mattias Janmark has been a key role player in the Edmonton Oilers' bottom six.
He's a gritty, depth piece who has helped push the team deep in the postseason, playing 80 games for the team last year, scoring 18 points (2-16).
According to NHL Insider Eklund of the website Hockey Buzz, he's linked the Swedish forward to the Detroit Red Wings.
«They (Red Wings) have looked very strong early but remain thin down the middle behind Dylan Larkin,» Eklund wrote on October 21st. «And they've always had a soft spot for hard-nosed Swedish players.»

«Tonight, an Edmonton source informed me there have been talks-very recent talks, in fact.»

The Detroit Red Wings are linked to Mattias Janmark

Janmark was originally selected 79th overall in 2013 by the Detroit Red Wings but has never suited up for the team.
Instead, he'd see a long career in the league, playing for the Chicago Blackhawks, Dallas Stars, Edmonton Oilers, and Vegas Golden Knights.
With General Manager Stan Bowman spending to the cap, it appears that he could be a casualty of the team's necessary expenditures to stay a perennial NHL contender.
Per Bob Stauffer:
«I think there's one or two contracts they could move. We'll see,» Stauffer said during the August 7th episode. «People ask me about Janmark. I think Janmark's a useful player. Henrique's got a no movement clause, so (that's) probably not happening.»

With Janmark's cap hit of $1.45 million, he could be an easy addition to the bottom six and give the team missing grit in the lineup.
It looks as if Heavy.com believes that Andrew Copp, or J.T. Compher, could be one of the pieces going back in return for Janmark, opening up a spot in the lineup for the Swede.
