Top Red Wings prospect Michael Brandsegg-Nygård, who was taken with Detroit's 1st pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, is set for a meeting with GM Steve Yzerman.

With their 1st overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, the Red Wings took Norwegian forward Michael Brandsegg-Nygård, making him the very 1st Norwegian-born player taken in the opening round of the draft.
Following the pick, he played the year with Skelleftea AIK in the Swedish Hockey League; he had 11 points (5G, 6A) in 42 games.
Both he and fellow prospect Axel Sandin-Pellikka were brought over to North America for their 1st taste of hockey on the other side of the world, making their professional debuts for the Grand Rapids Griffins' playoff run that unfortunately ended recently at the hands of the Texas Stars.
Now, Brandsegg-Nygård is set to reportedly meet 1 on 1 with GM Steve Yzerman per a report on X:
(Translated)
«Michael Brandsegg-Nygård will meet with Detroit Red Wings CEO Steve Yverman on Sunday afternoon Norwegian time before traveling Grand Rapids-New York-Frankfurt-Billund and arriving in Denmark on Monday around 2 p.m., we are informed
Shortly after the pick was made last summer, Yzerman said that he feels Brandsegg-Nygård can play in all situations and at both ends of the ice.
I think he plays a pretty responsible game for a young guy. When we all played junior, we worried about scoring. We didn't check. He's just got a really well-rounded game to him.

I just think he's a guy who could play in all situations. He can play either wing, a lot of different spots on the power play.
