Bleacher Report writer Lyle Richardson believes that Florida Panthers' winger Brad Marchand could be a candidate to land in Detroit once July hits.

Brad Marchand's time with the Florida Panthers has been short, but sweet. He's made the most of the playoffs, scoring 8 points (2 goals, 6 assists) in 8 games with Paul Maurice's team.
The trouble for the Panthers is that he's a pure rental for the team and, as a pending UFA, could command a larger salary elsewhere.
Marchand was traded to Florida at the 2025 Trade Deadline after he and GM Don Sweeney were unable to come to terms on a new contract.
Bleacher Report's Lyle Richardson believes he could be a solid option for the Red Wings in July, should he be available.
«Marchand's leadership, vast playoff experience and agitating two-way game could make him the type of player to help the Red Wings break through as a playoff team. Their postseason drought has lasted nine seasons and they must add another experienced scoring forward,» Richardson wrote of the fit in Detroit.

Marchand's $6.125 million deal ends at the conclusion of the 2024-2025 season.
He's scored a total of 47 points (21 goals, 26 assists) during the regular season. Though it seemed his recovery time after undergoing multiple surgeries during the offseason would undermine his play, he found his footing again later in the year.
Marchand could be a gritty top-line option for a Red Wings team that doesn't have much sandpaper or goal-scoring depth in the lineup.
He'd offer both, and the team will have enough salary cap space to accommodate possible contract demands by Marchand.
Though I'm sure Yzerman could negotiate a deal for both sides, as he was willing to take a team-friendly option in Boston, which was denied.
Brad Marchand is hated and loved around the league, a polarizing figure. But if you had the option to have him on your team, would you make it happen?
It's worth a call to him at the very least.
