Djurgården is delighted to welcome Joe Snively to the club. The 29-year-old American forward, who has played 27 games in the NHL and won two AHL titles, joins on a contract until 2026.
After playing college hockey at Yale University, Snively was never drafted into the NHL and instead signed a 3-year entry level contract with the Washington Capitals, though most of his time was spent with their AHL affiliate Hershey Bears.
Last summer, he signed a 2-way contract with the Red Wings, and played the entire year with the AHL affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins. He impressed with 47 points (21G, 26A) in 72 games.
Prominent offensive presence whenever he is on the ice. Exhibits a hunger for loose pucks and can carry it himself into the slot. Not the biggest body, but doesn't shy away from bigger bodies to create opportunities. Very accurate shot which jumps off his stick. Excellent passer and proficient puck skills. Very determined and works hard for the time and space he finds. Needs to recognize transition chances starting in his own end and the neutral zone quicker, and always be a factor in defensive as well as offensive play.
Snively has 11 points (6G, 5A) in 27 career NHL games, all played with the Capitals.
