The Detroit Red Wings endured a rough few losses in the month of April, while taking a major hit to their playoff hopes this year.
The nail in the coffin for their postseason, which the organization and their loving fans have not witnessed since 2015, has certainly been planted.
Emotions of the game and news of their playoff hopes coming to an end drew reactions from players during their postgame interviews, including a strong one from three-time Stanley Cup Champion Patrick Kane.
Patrick Kane nominated for Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy
In light of Kane's commitment and emotion to the game, he has been nominated by the Detroit Red Wings for the NHL's Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.
The Trophy, which is named after Bill Masterton, is awarded to the league's player who shows perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey the best.
Masterton is the only player in NHL history to pass away as a direct result of injuries suffered during a game.
This is a big, prestigious honor for Kane, and he truly deserves it.
