A major revelation regarding Steve Yzerman could save his job as the Detroit Red Wings General Manager.

After a disappointing end to the 2024-25 season that saw the Detroit Red Wings fail to qualify for the playoffs for the ninth straight year, one of the biggest reasons behind that failure was that players didn't have enough gas towards the end of the season.
Team captain Dylan Larkin put the blame on Yzerman, who didn't make any moves at the trade deadline to help his team in the playoff race.
Since then, both Yzerman and Larkin have been involved in plenty of rumors. Some say Larkin could end up on the trade block for his comments, and others believe Yzerman is on a hot seat in Detroit.
However, a major revelation regarding the GM could save his job in Detroit.
Indeed, a recent report shed light on one of Yzerman's biggest accomplishments as the Red Wings' GM: drafting top talents.
Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond, who were both named on their nations' first six Olympic players, were drafted by Yzerman and the Wings, showing the GM's strength in making smart draft choices.
The GM provided comments on the two players' roles in Detroit:
"Mo Seider, Lucas Raymond - these are two of our, maybe our two best young players. We're counting on them not just on the ice but more."

Also, Simon Edvinsson could be on that list.
The 22-year-old defenseman is starting to find his stride in the NHL. He played an important role for the team when they were hot, and he will only get better from here.
Seider revealed his honest opinion of him in a recent interview:
"He's been growing a lot. I mean, not just physically, but mentally, obviously. I think he's done an excellent job of just staying in the moment. Not getting ahead of himself, not looking too far ahead. Just trying to stay present and enjoy it.

He did his work in the gym. He did his work on the ice. And obviously, I think that's what usually translates onto the ice as well. He was a big part of, I think, why we were in such a successful position prior to March."

If Yzerman drafts another amazing player with the 13th overall pick on June 27th, he could cement his place within the Red Wings organization.
