The Red Wings could already be ready to move on from Vladimir Tarasenko, who was signed to a 2-year deal last summer but disappointed in his 1st year.
Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman then acted quickly by signing Vladimir Tarasenko, who had just won the Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers a few weeks prior, to a 2-year deal.
Tarasenko was going to be relied upon for offense, especially after scoring 23 goals split between the Ottawa Senators and Panthers last year. But he disappointed by scoring only 11 goals in 80 games as he and the Red Wings missed the postseason for the 9th straight year, which is now the the longest drought in team history.
Per David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Red Wings could look into trading Tarasenko at some point this summer.
Another name to keep tabs on this month: Vladimir Tarasenko, who is going into the final year of his contract. His name is out there again and the Detroit Red Wings are exploring the market.
Tarasenko, who also has won the Stanley Cup with the St. Louis Blues in 2019, has 1 year left on his contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $4.75 million.
He's also played for the New York Rangers briefly with
Patrick Kane in 2023. While Kane is expected to re-sign with the Red Wings this summer, it looks like the tenure of Tarasenko in Detroit could be over before long.
