Detroit Red Wings reveal true feelings in regards to Mitch Marner signing with the Golden Knights

After some tough and disappointing seasons in Detroit, many fans of the Red Wings were hoping to see Steve Yzerman go after a top player on the trade or free agent markets in the first few days of the offseason.

As of now, most of the top players who were available have found a new team, such as Mitch Marner, Noah Dobson, Brock Boeser, and many more.

In a recent press conference, Steve Yzerman addressed the fact that he didn't get Marner.

His answer disappointed many fans, as he only stated that he couldn't do anything, and didn't even talk with them:

The fact that they couldn't speak with him could hint at potential tampering allegations, suggesting the rumors about the Golden Knights' controversial business style could be true.

The Wings were one of the few teams who had the cap space to sign Marner, and Yzerman was clearly interested in getting him.

It's not that he didn't do enough, it's that he couldn't even do anything, as it looked like the deal with the Golden Knights was already in place.

It'll be interesting to see if the NHL does something about the allegations against the Golden Knights, especially considering how the league warned teams about using such methods ahead of the offseason.

In the same interview, Yzerman also opened up about his goal to add a top-four defenseman before next season:

Even though he couldn't get any top players in free agency this year, Yzerman still plans on making the team better. Fans can't wait to see what he pulls off.
