Major announcement involving the Red Wings' second round pick of the 2022 NHL Draft, Dylan James, revealing that the young star is refusing to sign a contract with Detroit.
It has been reporter that this forward has been outstanding since stepping onto campus in the fall of 2022, and he hit impressive numbers so far this season, accumulating 22 points, 14 goals and 8 assists, in just 14 games.
However, this 6-foot, 185-pound forward revealed he is not ready to sign any contracts.
Dylan James' reasoning for refusing to sign with the Red Wings
The 21-year old,
Dylan James, announced that he has decided to return to his university, the University of North Dakota, for his senior year, rather than signing with the Detroit Red Wings, who selected the player as their second round pick.
James announced Sunday per reporter, Brad Elliot Schlossman:
'His decision came one day after UND announced longtime associate coach Dane Jackson as the program's new head coach.
"I have a lot of faith in Jax and how he coaches the game and how he will coach our team," James said. "I'm super excited to play for him. Liver (Jake Livanavage) coming back, and the defensive corps, is the perfect mixture of what we want out of the team."
Dylan James is suggested to be adamant on staying with his team, and is seemingly excited for what the future holds within his organization.
"Hopefully, I can be a driver on the offensive side," James said. "I trust Jax, and whoever the coaching staff is, will put the right pieces together."
Although we won't see this forward on Detroit's roster for some-time, we can expect this star to make the team's rebuild progress quicker.
