Detroit Red Wings set to snatch longtime NHL veteran from Auston Matthews' Maple Leafs
The Red Wings only have a few months left to make some major moves erupt in Detroit during this year's offseason, as the 2025/26 NHL regular season will begin in October.
With that being said, this Original Six franchise is urged to snap its nine-year playoff-drought, and in order to do so, they still have work to do.
However, luckily for Red Wings fans, recent insight has suggested that the Detroit Red Wings are continuing their busy offseason by stealing a longtime NHL veteran from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Recent intel has unveiled the Detroit Red Wings have been speculated to acquire the Toronto Maple Leafs' Max Pacioretty
Pacioretty could be the veteran leader the Detroit Red Wing would have great use for.
Yet, acquiring this player won't exactly be an easy task, as this unrestricted free agent (UFA) is still studying his options, and waiting before making any serious commitments.
However, despite Pacioretty being mindful before making any decisions, Detroit might make an awful lot of sense.
As a report revealed that this veteran already spends a lot of time in Michigan.
«Pacioretty makes his off-season home in Michigan and played his college hockey with the [Michigan] Wolverines,» as stated by The Hockey News' Michael Augello. «His family remained there while he played in Toronto, and being away from them was a big factor in his hinting towards retirement immediately after the season.»
Although it is not certain whether or not the Detroit Red Wings will acquire this UFA, Red Wings fans are extremely hopeful.
