The Detroit Red Wings have signed a 1000-game NHL veteran to a one-year, one million dollar deal.

In a day filled with lots of moves by the Detroit Red Wings, they aren't ending!
General manager Steve Yzerman is working the phones, with his fourth move of the day, the Red Wings have inked James Van Riemsdyk to a one-year team friendly contract.
"1 yr x $1m plus bonuses for JvR in Detroit.

Sources say #LGRW are signing veteran forward James van Riemsdyk."
JVR's career has spanned across several teams, including the Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, and most recently the Columbus Blue Jackets, where the 36-year-old forward tallied 36 points in 71 games played.
This cheap signing by Yzerman is solely for the Red Wings' bottom-six forward group, and is a cheap, reliable placement to fill the void of Vladimir Tarasenko who was traded to the Minnesota Wild recently.
UPDATE: The #RedWings have signed James van Riemsdyk to a one-year contract with a $1,000,000 cap hit.
