Detroit Red Wings' top line forward roster battle down to these 3 names

The Athletic's Max Bultman wrote in a new article that the Detroit Red Wings' top-line winger roster battle is down to three names with two preseason games left to play.
The Detroit Red Wings organization has been able to get many answers about their players during training camp.
With James van Riemsdyk
missing most of the camp, there was an opening on the top line left wing spot, and with the start of the regular season looming, three players are now in the race to play alongside team captain
Dylan Larkin and
Lucas Raymond, according to Max Bultman.
The Athletic: Three Candidates Left In The Race For The Top Line Spot
Todd McLellan tried many different combinations for the top line, but as of now, Larkin and Raymond are still the only players with a guaranteed spot.
They will need someone beside them, and Max Bultman thinks it will either be van Riemsdyk,
Andrew Copp, or Emmitt Finnie.
He also stated that Copp would bring much more consistency to the top unit, but that would mean removing him from the third-line center spot.

But the most important takeaway from his report is that the top line is very likely to change during the season.
McLellan still has time to make a decision, with two preseason games remaining before opening night. An official update will come before the start of the season, on October 9.
