Erik Karlsson to Detroit: Rumors pickup as he's been spotted with a Red Wings player

No rule states that players from different teams can't entertain a friendship. With NHLers returning to international competitions, some relationships created with fellow countrymen are reinforced.

That's what can be observed in today's NHL.

Indeed, in a new development, four Swedish players were seen golfing together. Nothing more was needed for speculations to begin on social media.

There have been a lot of rumors about the Detroit Red Wings possibly being interested in completing a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins involving veteran defenseman Erik Karlsson.

Renowned insider Marco D'Amico even mentioned that the Red Wings were on the list of teams who showed interest in Karlsson, alongside the Anaheim Ducks, Utah Mammoth, and Toronto Maple Leafs:

While such a move wouldn't fit with Steve Yzerman's philosophies of managing the team, due to Karlsson's age and what it would cost to get him, Raymond would certainly be happy to see his organization acquire his friend and fellow Swede.

However, the same can be said with the Buffalo Sabres, as the team captain Rasmus Dahlin, also appeared in the picture.

The three players are all set to play for Sweden at the 2026 Olympic Games.

Many players spend time with players from other teams in the offseason, but it doesn't mean a trade is coming.

Karlsson, 35, scored 43 points last season with the Penguins. Considering how he fared in Pittsburgh alongside top players like Sidney Crosby, it's hard to predict if the veteran could bounce back after a trade to Detroit.

As for Raymond, the 23-year-old forward will look to beat his 80-point tally from last season but, most importantly, help the team get back to the playoffs.
