Ex-Detroit Red Wings fan favorite and $22M forward reportedly on the move
A former Detroit Red Wings fan favorite is reportedly on the move from the Chicago Blackhawks, and the $22M forward could be heading to the Buffalo Sabres.
Several rumors are surrounding the Chicago Blackhawks organization this offseason due to their current rebuilding state; it's messy.
One of those rumors includes the trade of a former Detroit Red Wings fan favorite and son of a familiar face, 30-year-old
Tyler Bertuzzi.
A
new report has revealed that the Blackhawks could very well combine for a trade with the Buffalo Sabres, involving
Tyler Bertuzzi and his $5.5M AAV salary.
Tyler Bertuzzi to the Buffalo Sabres begins to heat up
The Buffalo Sabres are in a worse situation than the Red Wings' nine-year playoff drought; theirs is a whopping 14 years and counting. In order to snap this streak, significant retooling is needed.
That's where Tyler Bertuzzi comes into play, who may be forced out of Chicago due to the youth-packed lineup.
The aging veteran brings grit, physicality, and a goal-scoring touch to the Sabres. Fresh off of a 46-point season (his best since 2021), his cap hit of $5.5M is affordable and fits the budget.
A suggested return for Bertuzzi would have to cost the Sabres one of their prospects, specifically
Noah Ostlund or
Adam Kleber, alongside some draft capital.
With his name currently floating on the trade market, would you like to see Steve Yzerman give Bertuzzi another shot wearing the Winged Wheel?
