One team has surfaced as the top landing destination for Calgary Flames' defenseman, Rasmus Andersson, and it's an Atlantic Division organization.

It's been known that Rasmus Andersson's time in Calgary is coming to an end sooner than his contract expires with the Flames.
Well-trusted NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has even revealed that Andersson intends to depart from the organization before the 2026 Winter Olympics, which begins in less than two weeks.
"It sounds like there is a desire to do it (trade Andersson) before the Olympics, and teams know that."

And to show the timeline, that means the Flames anticipate departing within the next couple of weeks, as the Olympic Winter Games are set to kick off on Friday, February 6, 2026.
However, now, it seems as though this blue-liner is expected to be acquired from an alternative Atlantic Division organization.

Calgary Flames' Rasmus Andersson speculated to be acquired from an Atlantic Division team

According to Elliotte Friedman, the Flames have reached out to several teams within the National Hockey League, asking what everyone's most serious offer looks like.
Following that, one team rose to the top, and has been granted permission to come to a contract extension with their defenseman before the trade's completed.
Friedman revealed the front-running club for this talent, stating that the Boston Bruins have been giving the go-ahead to work out a contract extension with Andersson.
"I believe they are the only team that has been given permission to talk to Andersson, and I do believe they've done some pretty significant extension talks... The Bruins are not believed to be interested in this without an extension."
