Former Detroit Red Wings Head Coach Derek Lalonde Finds New Job Outside of Coaching
Former Detroit Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde, who was fired after three seasons with the Detroit Red Wings has been hired in a new role outside of coaching
Lalonde, who's 52-years of age held a record of 89-86-23 with the Red Wings. He joined the organization after a long four-season stint as an assistant with the Lightning, where he won the Stanley Cup twice (2020, 2021).
His firing came at an all-time low with the Red Wings, who were in dire need of a change,
Dylan Larkin provided insight on that:
"It's been a frustrating start to the season, we're just missing something. This is something you don't want to happen. I really like Derek and 'Boogs' as guys, but it felt like something needed to happen. Now we move forward and we had a great first day with Todd."
57-year old Todd McLellan replaced Lalonde, and everything went uphill since then.
