Hockey fan travels across the globe to meet one specific former Detroit Red Wing
Former Detroit Red Wing Gerard Gallant has found a new home, in the KHL with the Shanghai Dragons, formerly Kunlun Red Stars, and a dedicated Red Wings fan has made the ultimate journey to get his ultimate man cave piece signed.
There's dedication, and then there is this.
A Detroit Red Wings fan made the trip from Hockeytown to Shanghai, China.
Shanghai is not only Gallant's new home for 2025-26, but it is the KHL team's new home. Formerly the Kunlun Red Star, they've adopted a new look with blue and orange and a new logo.
Along with the rebranding, they've got a former NHL coach to lead the way in Gerard Gallant, who took an underdog Vegas Golden Knights to the Stanley Cup finals in their inaugural season.
The former Red Wing has a special place in fans' hearts, as he suited up for the team from 1986 to 1993.
He suited up for a Red Wing for 563 games of his NHL career, scoring 467 points (207-260).
And he is a legend in Detroit sports, as evidenced by the video below:
Gallant has his fans, but this is nothing we've ever seen before. We hope the Red Wings faithful have found a perfect place to hang their memorabilia, which has the memory of making a trek around the world to secure.
The former Red Wing won the Jack Adams award during the 2017-18 NHL season, but after a disappointing two-year stint in New York, he hasn't found a new job in the league.
He has since taken his talents abroad to help the scrappy young Dragons find a way to the Gagarin Cup playoffs.
